Now a days, The demand and awareness about the herbs based medicines for various cures is increasing that necessitates demand for lab testing. Indian traditional systems of medicine such as Ayurveda, Siddha, Unani and Homeopathy are mainly based on herbal products/extracts. Based on the efficacy and no adverse side effects, the masses across the globe have understood the potential of traditional system of herbal medicines for low-cost healthcare.
The properties of herbal medicines to provide treatment and cure the ailments considered to be incurable in the modern system of medicine.
The requirements as per the Indian Nodal Department- AYUSH under the central ministry has addressed the issues of consistency, stability, microbial contamination, pesticide residues, heavy metals, toxic materials, which were not mentioned in the specifications. They have now become the requirements of standards and product testing and acceptable in India and across the world.
BTH had introduced new test facility for AYUSH(Ayurveda, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) products/medicines, under Department of Indian System of Medicines & Homeopathy(ISM & H) including the raw materials, as per the standards of Indian system of Medicines. Standard for the Ayurveda product meant for identify test facilities shall ensure compliance to the existing diseases for which these systems have an effective treatment. The testing covers variety of products under Ayurvedic Pharmacopoeia of India/Unani Pharmacopoeia of India(API/UPI) Standards.
